WDW Day 1--Travel Day

This morning is when I left for my trip to WDW. That night I didn't sleep that much. I had a flight that left at 5 am. Well I slept a lot during the flight. I got to Pop Century a little before 3 pm. I booked a Standard Room they upgraded me to a preferred room  with a king size bed. Also the room is on the fourth floor.
I went and got my Gift Cards then headed to Epcot ti get my Food and Wine Gift Card. Then I walked to Hops and Barley to get a Lobster Roll. It was getting late and I was get tired so I called it a night. The bad thing about this day is it rained off and on.

The Benefits of having a Gift Card vs Charging to Your Room

On my early trips I have gotten the Dining Plan and charged things to my room. This is a easy way to do things, until you see your credit card bill.
I have looked at my Dining Plan bills, added all the receipt and found that I was getting my money worth. But I was getting too much food to eat. So I stopped getting the Plan. It doesn't work that well for me. I can see it working for a family, not for a single person like me.

On my last trip I decided to get Gift Cards. I bought two cards. One for food and the other for shopping. The money that I would put on them was my spending for my trip. It worked very well for me. When the card ran out that was it.

What I would put on the Food Gift Card was $200. Having the Dining Plan would have cost $240. I knew that I won't spend that much on food. After the trip I had $39 left the card. I ate well. I did a lot of research on count service places before and picked out the places that I wanted to eat plus I knew what I wanted to eat. I got a Refillable Mug so I wouldn't have to buy drinks all the time. Most of the time I went to the resort food courts to eat. I would be able to refill my mug there. Also I never bought a dessert because after a while you get tired of the same thing every time.

Another thing I did was bring a water bottle. Before I left the food court I would fill the mug and then pour it into the bottle so I would have something to drink for later.

The bottle that I bring has a wide opening so I can put ice in it. It would also save money by not buying drinks in the park.

Now the shopping card. I would put $200 on a card and that would be my limit for shopping. I stayed within my limit.

My up coming trip I will do the same have two Gift Card. It's a good way to go.

Going to Walt Disney World on a Fixed Income

I have made 8 trips to WDW since 2007, and I have done it on a fixed income. I get asked all the time of how do I do it. It's pretty simple do when you know what bills you have each month. I have gotten to the point where my bills are low. I have gotten rid of Credit Cards. Now that I don't have to make those payments I took that money and put it in a Savings Account. After about 6 months I have money to pay the Disney part of my trip.
I have another way to pay for my air fares.  I found a site called Swag Bucks. I can make $100 a month. They do have a pay out that you can get cash though Pay Pal. A lot of airlines to take Pay Pal as a payment so that is how I pay for my air.

Since starting this saving plan I can go twice a year. On my last trip I bought a Annual Pass.

Does having a Annual Pass worth it

Is 2012 I bought the Premier Passport pass. This pass is good in both WDW and DL for one calender year. It cost around $800 at the time. I was living in Las Vegas NV at the time so going to Disneyland was easy. When I found a cheap flight on Southwest I would go for the day. I would do that 6 times I would do day trips there and when I went to WDW I did a 10 days stay.

It was worth the cost vs buying tickets for the days that I was there. Now the downside. It too a lot of energy. I don't live in Las Vegas anymore.

Now I live in Arizona. So day trips are not easy anymore so I bought a Annual Pass at Walt Disney World.
The pass cost me $700. Now I'm doing two trips to WDW  The cost for ticket for 7 days would cost $400 so two trips would be worth the cost of the pass.

So if you are planning at least 2 trips in a calendar year it is worth looking into the Annual Pass.
